We’re here to help you slow down in the woods—not to be weird about your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it reasonably safe.

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to run this business (and keep you informed).

  • We don’t sell your personal info. (Hard pass.)

  • We use reputable tools (like Podia + Stripe) to run the site, email, and checkout.

What we collect (aka: what you might hand us)

1) Stuff you type in on purpose

  • Name + email (newsletter, waitlist, purchases)

  • Purchase info (what you bought, receipts, transaction details)

  • Messages you send us (emails, inquiries)

  • Intake details you choose to share (if/when you complete forms—preferences, accessibility needs, or other info that helps us support you)

2) Boring internet stuff (collected automatically)

  • Device/browser data, IP address, approximate location

  • Pages you view and actions you take on the site

This helps the site function and helps us understand what’s working.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • deliver what you signed up for (program access, updates, receipts)

  • communicate session details (locations, what to bring, schedule reminders)

  • provide support if you reach out

  • improve the website and offerings over time

Email (your inbox, your rules)

If you join our list, we’ll email you about openings, schedule updates, and occasional notes related to forest bathing.

Unsubscribe anytime—no hard feelings. Every email includes a link to opt out.

Payments

Purchases are processed through Podia using Stripe. We don’t receive or store your full credit card number—payment processing happens through Stripe’s systems.

Who we share info with (very limited)

We only share information with:

  • service providers that help run the business (Podia, Stripe, and related tools needed to deliver services)

  • legal/financial professionals if required (taxes, compliance)

  • authorities if legally required (rare, but it’s a thing)

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

Yes, the website uses cookies. Not the chocolate-chip kind. Cookies help the site work and help us understand what people are clicking. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may act a little grumpy.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed to:

  • provide services and support

  • meet legal and accounting requirements

  • maintain normal business records

If you unsubscribe, we’ll stop emailing you (but may retain basic records of purchases for legal/accounting purposes).

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. That said, no online platform can promise 100% perfect security. (If it could, we’d all be out here drinking tea under a flawless cybersecurity umbrella.)

Children’s privacy

This site and offerings are intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can:

  • unsubscribe from emails anytime

  • request to update or correct your information

  • ask what information we have about you

  • request deletion where feasible (some records may need to be retained for legal/accounting)

Email us at hello@karenjoyb.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line.

Updates to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If changes are significant, we’ll make a reasonable effort to notify subscribers.
